COVID-19 impact on this service
We are open for birth registrations with limited availability.
Cancelling and rescheduling appointments due to COVID-19
The Coronavirus pandemic has not ended, the virus is still present in the population.
It may be necessary to cancel and/or reschedule appointments at short notice due to changes in government restrictions, local lockdowns or the need for our staff to self-isolate.
We will contact any affected customers as soon as possible if there are any changes to service provision.
By booking during the pandemic, you agree that you understand and accept the risk of late notice cancellations and/or rescheduling. We aim to give customers as much notice as possible.
If we contact you to cancel your birth appointment, we will call you at a later date to reschedule your appointment.
If you have paid for certificates, we can retain the fee and move it to your next appointment, or we can refund the fee.

Attending birth registration appointments
If you or anyone from your household have any symptoms of COVID-19, have tested positive or are quarantining, please do not attend an appointment at Hendon Town Hall.
Due to social distancing measures at Hendon Town Hall, we ask that only the required number of informants attend the appointment:
- If you and the baby’s natural father/parent are married to each other, only one of you should attend the appointment
- If you are not married to each other and you want the natural father/parent’s details recorded, then it will be necessary for you both to attend.
We strongly advise that you do not bring the baby or any other children to the appointment with you.
We are no longer taking certificate fees during appointments. If you would like to obtain certificates on the day, you will need to pre-pay for these whilst booking your appointment.
If you are late for you appointment, you will not be able to register and will be required to re-book another appointment.
