The Youth Offending Service is committed to providing a service to victims and those affected by crime committed by young people who are under supervision. Restorative processes bring those harmed by crime or conflict, and those responsible for the harm, into communication, enabling everyone affected by a particular incident to play a part in repairing the harm and finding a positive way forward. In criminal justice, restorative processes give victims the chance to tell offenders the real impace of their crime, to get answers to their questions, and an apology. Restorative justice holds offenders to account for what they have done, helps them understand the real impact of their actions and to take responsibility for this and to make amends. The aim of this service is prevent people under 18 years of age from offending and reoffending within the community.
