Polish-speaking children in your schools
Received: 12 October 2020
Somewhat belatedly this year I am again approaching the information or children's departments of London's 33 borough for the latest statistical update on the number of Polish-speaking children in your schools including first schools, high schools, special schools, sixth form colleges and, where possible, academies.
We find this annual recount a useful source of knowledge for Polish community organizations in London, and in particular for the Polish Education Committee.
I naturally delayed my request this year because of the covid-19 pandemic which obviously caused considerable disruption both in the actual schools and in every children's department in London local government. While obviously this figure is outdated now and we have the 2020/2021 contingent currently in schools nevertheless it would useful to have this statistic retrospectively so that we can monitor the impact until now of Brexit on Polish families and because we will then have a yardstick to measure the future impact of the pandemic on the current intake which will be counted in January.
I enclose the statistics which were submitted by all of your departments last year and hope that you will be able to let me have the relevant statistics for the beginning of 2020 as quickly as is convenient for you.
Thank you for your support and apologies for any inconvenience.
