Mobile COVID-19 testing units - venues for week starting 6th July released

A mobile COVID-19 testing unit will be returning to the borough at several locations throughout this week. It will be at Barnet House today (Monday 6 July), at Brent Cross Shopping Centre on Thursday (9 July) and at Edgware Community Hospital this Sunday (12 July). The unit will be open for tests for attendees in a vehicle and on foot, at each location, from 10.30am to 3.30pm. ALL appointments must be pre-booked. Staff who just turn up will not be able to have a test.

Testing is now available for anyone with symptoms (read more here). However, it is vital to remember that guidelines for testing specify that individuals should be tested within the first three days of showing symptoms as this is when it will be most effective. It is therefore vital that if you have symptoms that you apply to take a test as soon as possible.
A place can be booked at the Barnet site or any other location near you, via the national booking site at: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-getting-tested#who-can-be-tested.

If you or any of your staff members do have a test, please also remember to inform the BECC team of the results, by emailing covid19@barnet.gov.uk. Any questions about the process or the mobile unit should also be directed to covid19@barnet.gov.uk.

The unit will be open for tests for attendees in a vehicle and on foot, in the car park of the hospital in Burnt Oak Broadway, from 10.30am to 3.30pm on Sunday and Monday. ALL appointments must be pre-booked. Staff who just turn up will not be able to have a test.

NHS Test and Trace service live

Track and Trace

The new NHS Test and Trace service has launched to help identify, contain and control coronavirus, reduce the spread of the virus and save lives.

Anyone who tests positive for coronavirus will be contacted by NHS Test and Trace and will need to share information about their recent interactions. This could include household members, people with whom they have been in direct contact, or within two metres for more than 15 minutes.

A mobile COVID-19 testing unit will once again be returning to the borough on Thursday 21 May and Friday 22 May at Edgware Community Hospital. The unit will be open for tests for attendees arriving in a vehicle or on foot, in the car park of the hospital in Burnt Oak Broadway from 10.30am to 3.30pm. ALL appointments must be pre-booked. Staff who just turn up will not be able to have a test.

Testing eligibility has once again changed this week, and testing is now available for anyone with symptoms (read more here. However, it is vital to remember that guidelines for testing specify that individuals should be tested within the first 3 days of symptoms starting, as the test will be at its most effective within 5 days of symptoms starting. It is therefore vital that if you have symptoms that you apply to take a test as soon as possible.

Following sessions at the end of April and beginning of May at Edgware Hospital, a mobile COVID-19 testing unit will be returning to the borough tomorrow and Thursday and this time will be based at Barnet House. The unit will be open for tests for attendees in a vehicle and on foot, in the car park of the building in High Street, Whetstone, tomorrow (Wednesday 13 May) and Thursday 14 May from 10.30am to 3.30pm. ALL appointments must be pre-booked. Staff who just turn up will not be able to have a test.

If you or your staff are eligible for testing as frontline key workers, and are at home self-isolating with COVID-like symptoms, developed in the last three days, or are self-isolating because a family member has developed COVID-like symptoms, then a place must be booked via the national booking site at: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-getting-tested#who-can-be-tested.

This website also sets out details of who is now eligible for testing. Please note, eligibility for testing has recently changed and now includes over-65s who are showing symptoms, people who need to go to work who are showing symptoms and NHS and care home workers who are asymptomatic.

Additonal venues for COVID-19 tests

The Mobile Testing Unit for people to be tested for COVID-19 is available in Barnet for an additional day on Wednesday 6th May, at Edgware General Hospital.

Opening times for all mobile sites are expected to be 10.30am - 3.30pm, but please see confirmation of times available when booking a time slot using the booking link.

MTU tests are by appointment only: Tests will only be conducted for those people who have an appointment booked via the national booking portal. Anyone without an appointment will be asked to book on-line before returning. This should also include any household members travelling if they expect to be tested.  
 
Access to tests is for pedestrians and those arriving in a car/vehicle.


On Tuesday 5th May - the mobile unit for COVID-19 testing will be available in Barnet, please use the online booking link ahead of attending.

COVID-19 testing – mobile unit to remain in Barnet on Thursday 30th April

Following a high uptake of tests at the mobile COVID-19 testing unit at Edgware Community Hospital today, the unit will remain at the site on Thursday, 30th April. The unit will be open for both drive-through and people who arrive on foot for tests and is going to be available at the hospital located in Burnt Oak Broadway, HA8 0AD, tomorrow (Wednesday 29 April) from 10.30am to 3.30pm. However, for tomorrow, ALL appointments must be pre-booked. Staff who just turn up will not be able to have a test. Barnet's mobile testing site open on Tuesday 28th from 10:30am

The Government has announced that COVID-19 testing is now available to all frontline workers. The National Testing Programme provides coronavirus tests to frontline workers or symptomatic members of their household, and the programme now includes some Local Authority staff.  

A Barnet mobile testing site is now available on Tuesday 28th April from 10:30am to 3:30pm for key workers who are symptomatic, have valid public sector (or private health and care sector ID) and are aged over 18. Further sites will be available in Barking and Hillingdon on Wednesday 29 April.

Eligible key workers from the public sector, private health and social care sector, and voluntary sector can attend the site without an appointment. You may also be able to book a timed appointment, as can other key workers, via the national booking portal once these locations are available on the drop down menu.
