An evening with local author Debra Barnes

Debra Barnes The Young Survivors

Wednesday 25 November, 7pm to 8pm

Local author Debra Barnes will be talking about her debut book, The Young Survivors, which was inspired by the story of her mother's survival and the French Jews killed during the Holocaust.

'What if everyone you loved was suddenly taken away? Five siblings struggle to stay together as the tides of war threaten to tear them apart.'

Book Bingo

Participate in our newest library challenge called Book Bingo and you could win a Samsung Galaxy tablet.

You will need to read a selection of books in different formats and complete several tasks to enter the competition.

There is a Book Bingo challenge for children, teenagers and adults.

You must enter before Saturday 5 December 2020 at 11.59pm.

Early Years Regular Events

We are now running free regular live online events for babies and toddlers. 

Baby Bounce online

Baby Bounce Online

A virtual rhyme and story session for non-walkers designed to encourage parent and baby engagement with tickling, clapping and peek-a-boo rhymes.

Sessions are free on Monday Mornings until 14 December.

Toddler Rhyme Online

A virtual singing, rhyme and story session for active toddlers. It is designed to be safe, fun, engaging and as interactive as possible without being in the same room.

These sessions are free.

Booking for Monday 30 November is open. Please bring along anything you have at home to make some music.

Booking for Monday 7 December opens at 10.15am on 30 November. Bring along any colourful square scarves or a muslin for peek-a-boo rhymes.

Booking for Monday 14 December opens at 10.15am on 7 December. This will be a festive fun themed session so feel free to wear festive clothes and bring your shakers and bells.

Reading Well

We have  useful and helpful reading lists which supports you to understand and manage your health and wellbeing.

The books are all recommended by health experts, as well as people with lived experience of the conditions and topics covered and their relatives and carers.

Storytimes about starting school

Many children are starting school this autumn without the support of being in pre-school or nursery for many months. We have two storytimes designed to help parents and carers support children as they make this transition.
