Services at Summers Lane recycling and reuse centre
We offer a complete range of recycling facilities and offer a reuse shop, bicycle and paint reuse schemes. The centre is for the use of residents only for the disposal of household waste. Commercial, trade or industrial waste is not permitted.

Monday to Sunday from 8.45 am to 4.15 pm - Closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
Avoid long queues at weekends
It's best to get there well before 3.45 pm. The centre closes at 4.15 pm and entry gates will close at 4.00 pm at the latest.
How to use the centre
You can recycle a large range of household items at Summers Lane. There are different labelled bays and banks for all the materials we collect for recycling. Ask any of our staff to show you which containers to use.

Second Time Around - reuse shop
The reuse shop sells items in good condition such as furniture, toys, sports equipment and clothes. You can donate your unwanted items that are in good condition. The shop is open Tuesdays 9 am to 4 pm.
Bicycle Reuse Scheme
We operate a bicycle reuse scheme with Recycle your Cycle. Bicycles are then sold at charity shops across the country and in our Second Time Around reuse shop.
Paint Reuse Scheme
We have a reuse scheme for good quality reusable paint for community groups and others to re-use for free.
You can donate good quality paint suitable for reuse. Please place paint in the designated area on site or speak to a member of staff for help.
Paint is free for community groups, charities, sports clubs and individuals to collect from the site during opening hours. Speak to a member of staff at the site to view the paint available. When collecting the paint you will need to complete a short booking out form before taking away.
Please note we cannot guarantee the colours or amount of paint available on site, as this will depend on the paint donated to us.
Visiting us in a van pick-up truck or in a vehicle with a trailer
If you are visiting us in a van, pick-up truck or a vehicle with a trailer you will need to book your visit with us at least 24 hours before. We will email you a booking reference number, which you will need bring with you, along with proof of your identity and address.Commercial, trade or industrial waste is not permitted.

Please note: vans, pick ups and trailers over four foot must arrive before 3.30pm to ensure entry to the site and that the items can be unloaded before 4.15pm.

Does the centre accept asbestos?
We don't accept asbestos.

North London Waste Authority (NLWA)
The North London Waste Authority (NLWA) run the recycling centre at Summers Lane. Operations are carried out by LondonEnergy Ltd (LEL).
- Vans are accepted every day of the week provided users give 24 hours notice and provide proof of residency and ID. There is a limit of five van visits per year per household.
- Hardcore rubble: there is a limit to the amount of hardcore accepted which is six standard rubble bags or equivalent, no more than once per month per household.
- Soil acceptance: there is a limit to the amount of soil accepted which is six standard rubble bags or equivalent, no more than once per month per household.
