COVID-19 Update
Local authorities must continue to meet their statutory responsibilities towards care leavers such as:
- providing personal advisers
- preparing and reviewing pathway plans.
Personal advisers should proactively reach out to care leavers during the pandemic. This includes care leavers aged over 21 who are eligible for support up to age 25, but who were not accessing support before the pandemic.
In Barnet we understand that care experienced young people might be feeling anxious about COVID-19. Many of us are experiencing the same feelings, you are not alone.
If you have any questions about the impact of COVID-19 on your circumstances or wellbeing, speak to your social worker or leaving care personal adviser.
If you are a care leaver and would like advice and support but no longer have a social worker or personal advisor because you are aged 21 to 25, please contact the Onwards and Upwards leaving care duty team:

Local offer information
Barnet’s care leaver local offer was launched in April 2019, as required under the Children and Social Work Act (2017). The local offer sets out our offer for young people who have been looked after by Barnet Council, including the information, services and support available.
