Why we charge for tennis in parks
Following approval at the Environment and Climate Change Committee in November 2022 the council started to update the running of tennis courts in Barnet’s Parks and an investment programme.
During 2023 the majority of the boroughs courts have been or are currently in the process of being refurbished in partnership with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), in excess of £1m is being invested in courts and access control gates as part of the project.
A condition of the grant from the LTA and as set out in the November 2022 committee paper a fund is being set up to cover future repairs and works in order to keep the courts in good condition. The fund and court maintenance costs will be funded through the charges raised, We aim to have a sustainable model for tennis in parks.
