The council’s recycling and waste collection services are currently operating with a reduced number of staff due to the COVID-19 epidemic.

Whilst the service is working hard to minimise any disruption, changes are having to be made to blue recycling bin collections so weekly black refuse bin collections can continue during this time.

Blue recycling bin collections will occur on the week commencing 30 March, week commencing 13 April and week commencing 27 April. The council will continue to monitor Government updates and review this arrangement in mid-April.

Weekly refuse and fortnightly garden waste collections will continue.

Councillor Dean Cohen, Chair of the Barnet Council Environment Committee, said: “The council wants to ensure it can deliver priority services to its residents during these unprecedented times. We have reduced the frequency of blue bin recycling collections to fortnightly so that we can continue to provide essential black bin refuse collections.”

Residents should check they have presented their blue recycling bin on the correct week as listed online before reporting a missed recycling bin collection.

To see updates on bin collections during this time, residents can follow Barnet Council's Twitter and Facebook accounts or visit www.barnet.gov.uk/bincollectionupdates for the latest information.
